STORY:
Eid days are the year’s most blessed and joyful days that we are all waiting for, Eid is the time for forgetting about business and disputes and replacing them with visits for relatives and friends along with our families to enhance the social relationships and promote the culture of tolerance, love, and joy. It shall be for everyone and under no circumstances shall someone be deprived of the serenity of this moment. However, this year, people living in Northwest Syria will celebrate it while still suffering from an unresolved conflict for the twelfth year and after experiencing the devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6th, 2023, adding insult to injury and causing more destruction and trauma to millions of conflict-affected and internally displaced people.
According to OCHA’s report about the impacts of the earthquake, an estimated 5.37 million people across Syria may have been made homeless, while 10.9 million people, nearly half of Syria’s population, had been affected by this natural hazard. Among them, 3.7 million are children (UNICEF) who were once again forced to deal with new difficulties and struggle to survive in a war-torn country that, even much before the earthquakes, was considered one of the most harmful places on earth for children. In no way should children get used to an unhappy Eid.
As such, this year more than ever before, it is essential to take action to alleviate some of the children’s suffering and support them to enjoy a light-hearted Eid, since every child is part of this Eid. Children have the right to enjoy their childhood peacefully and freely as their peers in other places enjoy it, thus every small action towards this end counts, and is considered as an essential step to contribute to the children’s good development and long-term well-being.
We at Hope Revival Organization (HRO) have long, professional, and accumulated experience, particularly in the provision of mental health and psycho-social support (MHPSS) services to the internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities (HCs) in Northwest Syria since 2014, through providing quality lifesaving humanitarian assistance to those most vulnerable groups including children to contribute to improving their living conditions, wellbeing, and resilience in a way that preserves their dignity and privacy in line with the standard humanitarian principles.
This Eid you can help us to make a child’s Eid enlightened! Thanks to your help, we will be distributing Eid clothes to 1,000 children living in the most affected and damaged areas that were hit by the recent earthquakes in NWS. We aim to spread happiness among those children and their families, help them out of their trauma, and let them enjoy these blessed days to enhance their resilience and overall well-being.
You are the starting point of this virtuous circle! If you share our vision and you believe that a child’s happiness consists of many small joyful moments, then you are already aware of the significant impact your action can make this Eid!
