Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, HRO is looking for a Technical Coordinator, S/He will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Protection (Child Protection and GBV) initiatives for Hope Revival Organization. This role involves the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of MHPSS and Protection programs. The incumbent will provide technical supervision, support the recruitment of qualified staff, and contribute to capacity-building initiatives. Additionally, the Technical Coordinator will actively engage in monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and representation activities, fostering collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
This position will be based in Gaziantep with possible travel to HRO workplaces in Türkiye and/or Northwest of Syria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support (MHPSS and Protection)
- Develop organizational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Protection, including Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
- Provide technical support for MHPSS and protection across all stages of the project cycle, encompassing needs assessment, technical strategy development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Create curriculum, materials, and training programs for MHPSS, Psychosocial Support (PSS), and Protection initiatives.
- Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) teams to review M&E systems, develop tools and methodologies, and analyze program data and impacts.
- Assist in the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for MHPSS and protection activities to enhance awareness of services.
- Contribute to self-care and staff care practices and interventions for HRO staff and partners as approved by HRO management.
- Supervision
- Provide technical supervision to the field MHPSS and Protection technical teams at the Head Office and field levels, sharing findings with the line manager and MHPSS/protection consultants through regular reporting.
- Ensure adherence to HRO and donor policies and recommendations regarding MHPSS and protection practices and activities.
- Participate in the recruitment process for psychosocial support staff, offering advice on technical skills and experience.
- Develop capacity assessment reports for HRO sub-grantees or partners, outlining plans for improvement and technical support.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Develop an organizational capacity-building plan for MHPSS and protection, including induction, ongoing training, and day-to-day mentoring (in-person or online).
- Ensure adequate training for all psychosocial support staff.
- Facilitate capacity-building activities for project managers overseeing MHPSS/protection projects, utilizing relevant training offered by clusters, working groups, or training platforms.
- MHPSS and Protection Activities Follow-Ups
- Ensure MHPSS and protection activities meet established standards and align with project objectives and outcomes.
- Track disaggregated and cumulative data on MHPSS and Protection Staff, documenting all activities and outcomes.
- Report regularly on cross-cutting issues and ensure programming aligns with MHPSS or protection objectives.
- Contribute to the update of referral pathways and service mapping for MHPSS and protection services.
- Protection Analysis and Reduction of Risk Factors
- Collaborate with Protection field staff to identify potential risk factors and coordinate efforts to reduce and/or eliminate those factors.
- Raise awareness of identified risks and concerns, promoting best practices for mitigation.
- Development and Implementation of Protection Preventive Measures
- Contribute to innovative preventive protection interventions.
- Reporting
- Review periodic reports to ensure effective and timely implementation of MHPSS/protection activities.
- Assess M&E reports, need assessments, FGDs, etc., and incorporate findings into reports, new proposals, and concept notes.
- Utilize lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to enhance work strategy and contribute to requested research and studies.
- Regularly submit ordinary (weekly reports) and extraordinary reports for events, missions, or non-periodic meetings to the line manager.
- Representation and Coordination
- Represent HRO in routine donor monitoring, spot-checks, or auditing meetings.
- Present MHPSS and Protection components to partners, stakeholders, donors, and other relevant entities.
- Participate in coordination meetings, particularly in the mental health Subject Working Group (SWG), to introduce and update HRO’s MHPSS/protection programs among partners and strengthen relationships.
- Contribute to the development of Advocacy and Media Messages in coordination with HRO’s Media Department, relevant clusters, working groups, donors, or news agencies.
- Ensure internal coordination among HRO departments for effective information sharing and responsibilities.
- Work closely with MHPSS and Protection consultants to monitor and supervise activities, sharing findings with the program team.
- Other Duties
- Undertake any other relevant duties as requested by the line manager.

Qualifications and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a proven track record of experience in Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) within humanitarian settings.
- At least 3 years of on-the-job training and supervisory experience in a similar position.
- Advanced knowledge of MHPSS and Protection principles, policies, and best practices.
- Proven experience in developing organizational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
- Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive capacity-building plans for MHPSS and Protection staff.
- Commitment to ensuring continuous training and professional development for psychosocial support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze diverse information and formulate recommendations for an appropriate response.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, coupled with experience in advocacy efforts.
- Mandatory fluency in both Arabic and English, both orally and in writing; proficiency in Turkish is considered an asset.
